Overview

This evaluation board, powered by Citrobits’ CBM100 FPGA Module, seamlessly integrates the  ams OSRAM NanEyeM and its micro-camera derivatives into custom system architectures, providing a powerful and flexible bridge for innovative vision applications.

ams OSRAM NanEye sensors smaller than pencils

Thanks to its compact size of just 1 mm², the NanEyeM image sensor used in this evaluation board is ideal for vision applications with strict size constraints. The camera head transmits signals through long cables, making it perfect for medical endoscopic applications where high SNR is essential. It is also well-suited for industrial inspection borescopes and eye-tracking applications.

The sensor supports a high frame rate of approximately 49 fps, enabling SNR enhancement and a smooth, low-latency display. Additionally, the frame rate can be reduced to as low as 4 fps to allow extended exposure times and lower power consumption.

The Sensor supports cables of 1 to 2m long by using proprietary protocol. With the EVA-NEYEM01, you can seamlessly connect the sensor to most readily available platforms, ensuring maximum compatibility and ease of integration.

Designed for maximum flexibility, this evaluation board bridges camera input data from the sensor to either MIPI CSI-2 or parallel output. It supports CSI-2 one, two, or four-lane configurations, delivering high-speed performance that can be over 1.5Gbps per lane. The parallel output features 10 data bits, Clock, V-Sync, H-Sync, and Data Enable, with compatibility for both 3.3V and 1.8V systems.

For ams OSRAM cameras with integrated lighting, a low-noise LED boost regulator powers two LEDs in series with up to 50mA, ensuring optimal illumination.

Engineered for seamless connectivity, the board features a 6-pin Molex 0527460671 and 22-pin FFC connectors with MIPI-pinout compatibility for Raspberry Pi. Power can be supplied through the connectors with 3.3V input.
